The mind works in collaboration with the body to perform at an optimal level. It's easy to let life's stresses weaken that connection between our bodies and our minds. A weakened mind will only lead to a weak body, and a weak immune system.
Just Like A Computer
Thinking of ourselves in the same aspect as computers makes this concept easier to understand. The simple basics of a computer is there's hardware, there's software, and there's an energy source.
Now with us we have our bodies (the hardware), our brains, (the software), and our souls (the energy source). Our brains simply are the connectors of it all; essentially they're the middleman in this situation.
It's our brains that allow our bodies to perform functions and perform our daily lives. When you feel pain, the nerve receptors within our bodies send an electrical signal to our brain, the brain then interprets, and sends back a new signal to tell our bodies what to feel.
A Weakened Signal
That connection between our brains and bodies is a very important relationship. The mind itself tells the body how to feel, and it's easy to allow our minds to take a beating over time.
We face stress, we face uncomfortable moments in our lives. We face a lot of moments throughout our day where our brain absorbs a multitude of negative energy.
This over long periods of time, without attempts to heal and nurture our minds, will only make us feel worse. Stress can affect not only your mood, but your immune system as well.
A Stronger Mind & Body
It's important to take measures to empower our mind & body connection. Certain measures can include a practice of mindfulness, meditation, and other stress relievers.
Relief through working out or other physical measures have a time and place where they are important, but our goal is to utilize both our mind's and bodies.
Another relief measure is yoga, which is the practice of movements to essentially listen to your body and the way it feels. Yoga is a great way to strengthen your mind & body connection. It incorporates a calming / meditative treatment for your mind while simultaneously listening to your body to respect the way it feels.
Listen to your body and look to heal your mind. As with all things, this practice is long term and results will take some time. Good luck and best wishes!
